Procedure for The Application of a Driving License in Indonesia
Foreigners must go through the following procedure to obtain a driving permit:
- Visit the designated police station within your residing city or region. For instance, expatriates located in Jakarta are required to attend Satuan Pelaksana Administrasi SIM (SATPAS) Polda Metro Jaya, while those in Bali should proceed to Polresta Denpasar.
- Discover the path leading to the “Driver’s License Issuance Section.” Upon arrival, kindly ensure the provision of a health certificate as a prerequisite. In the event of its absence, complimentary on-site eye and blood pressure examinations are available for your convenience.
- Afterward, you’ll proceed to complete both the theoretical and practical examinations. The theoretical assessment, conducted in Indonesian, consists of True or False questions. Meanwhile, the practical examination evaluates various driving skills, such as navigating through zig-zag patterns, driving in straight lines forward and backward, and executing parallel parking maneuvers, among other tasks.
- Following the assessments, you will be requested to provide your fingerprints and complete a signature.
- Ultimately, you make your way to the bank to settle the payment for your application. Upon obtaining a bank slip, you proceed to diligently complete an application form, ensuring all necessary documents are assembled, and then tender them alongside the bank slip at the specified service counter.
